Love nature? Ready to get away to paint outdoors, relax, experience mutual support and companionship with other watercolor painters? I’m here to help.
Each full-day retreat event, designed for all skill levels, begins with your arrival at 9:00 am (EST), rain or shine. Upon arrival, you’ll meet other participants, review the agenda for the day, and receive a map of trails and highlights of the property, as well as a multi-page handout containing Plein Air painting information and tips. Following a short discussion of things important to keep in mind when painting outdoors, you will have a chance to ask questions, explore, take photos, and choose your painting scene. The day is not designed to provide specific step-by-step instruction, however, we can consider composition, changing light, simplifying and cropping, etc. There will be ample painting time before and after lunch. At the end of the day, we will all meet to share our progress, ask questions, and discuss techniques. Departure is scheduled for 4:00 pm (EST).
Location for retreat events is a rural 64-acre property, The Farm, in Wilton, NH, which offers open fields, numerous and well-maintained wooded paths, several streams with scattered benches, and a 1770 farmhouse as outdoor painting inspiration. (The Farm is 19 miles (39 minutes) from Nashua, NH, 47 miles (66 minutes) from Worcester, MA, 61 miles ( 78 minutes) from Boston, MA, and 41 miles (70 minutes) from Concord, MA.)
Cost is $150 for one full-day retreat. Choose June 17, July 22, or August 26, 2023, or sign up for all three days for a discounted price of $400.
Please provide your own painting supplies, bug spray, and sunscreen. Bring lunch for yourself (and a potluck item to share, if desired).
